Bye, Bye infant room, Hello T-1

Today was our first official day of "T-1" . We have been visiting for a week now and Mercer Anne loves it. She pretty much ignores me when I show up to pick her up! Woodson is having a more difficult time but I am sure he will get the hang of it after a while.

This was the "before" picture.  The after picture is not here...use your imagination to picture this:  We are less than a minute from daycare, I hear heaves in the backseat and a familiar smell fills the air--Woodson strikes again!  No daycare for Woodson today.  He is whimpering in the backseat until we get home and I get him out of the throw-up clothes and into clean clothes.  He starts giggling!  Have I been had?

Anyway, I have a theory that Woodson needs soy milk (he had to have soy formula, after all).  So, I head to the store to pick up milk for dinner.  I have Mercer Anne and Woodson with me and I grab the "lactaid".  All is well.

I prepare dinner (ravioli, carrots, squash, watermelon) for the kids and they chow down.  This is good, Woodson is eating.  Then I give the twins their 1/2 milk, 1/2 formula bottle.  I make sure that MA gets regular whole and Woodson gets lactaid.  We have our baths then go to bed.  Woodson starts screaming bloody murder (worse than normal).  I go get him out of the crib and as we are walking into the kitchen, I hear a heave and then I feel covered in warm liquid.  Then the smell hits me.  WHAT?!  We went all day without throwing up.  I set my poor baby on the floor to run inside the kitchen to grab some paper towels.  Oops.  Woodson can walk.  He follows me into the kitchen, slips on the throw-up and lands face first in the pool of puke.  Wonderful.  Now he is screaming, he is covered in puke and Sally is trying to lick it off his body.  I can't make this stuff up.  We are all OK now.  Cleaned up, in bed and I am onto figuring out what to do tomorrow since Woodson is clearly not going back to daycare.

(If you didn't figure it out, Lactaid is not SOY - so on top of that, I have to figure out how to get back to the store for more milk --apparently days like today are why people say motherhood isn't easy.)

To end on a good note, below is a picture of the twins with two of their favorite infant room teachers, Mrs. Rebecca and Mrs. Verale.

  1. Well, Woodson comes by his stomach distress honestly - Uncle Edward had it, big time. Yes, soy makes a difference. Some of the time.

I note that both have on their innocent faces when heading to school and in the arms of the day care staff.
